I just realized how closely-related may industrial paintings are to my anatomy work. Both are kind of about a cold, hard, mechanical view of a subject, flesh and machine. Underneath the skin, we consider the body an automatic, mechanical system, while long-lasting metal will actually deteriorate and cease functioning if not taken care of. While the anatomy paintings may be of squishy brain bits, skulls, and spinal cords, I find the trains, metal, and rust to be far more morbid.
Meanwhile, I finally decided to show a side-by-side comparison of my current project over time. Panels 2-4 are from just today.
